So Many Changes

For many of us, the end of the year is a good time to reflect on what has happened in the past 12 months, so here goes.
RMC underwent many changes in 2025, and fortunately, all of them have turned out to be positive. For someone who tends to stick with people and systems as long as they are working, I am amazed at how well the transitions went.
First of all, we changed our processing systems. To put this in perspective, we have been using the same processing system for almost 40 years! Back in the mid-80s, we were the second company on the East Coast to adopt this system. It was revolutionary because prior to this software, we were typing applications on a typewriter and using whiteout to make corrections. (Some of my readers probably don’t even know what I am talking about!) But that system had not kept up with the times, so in February we implemented a new system. There were some bumps, but we are now quite comfortable and happy with our choice.
Next, my accountant, who had been with me for over 35 years, retired, and my bookkeeper took a sabbatical. So, we now have a new CPA who is awesome, and Troy learned QuickBooks!
Finally, this year we were asked to sponsor two more Queer Sports Leagues: Rogue Pickleball and DC Gay Basketball. So more games to go to and brunches to organize. We also created an Instagram account—click to follow us!
Of course, the biggest change was Patrick joining RMC. Troy and I have been working together for over 10 years and have been a two-person team for some time, so bringing in a new person was going to be interesting. But instead of being challenging, it has been fun, the three of us have been a great fit, and Patrick is already a successful loan originator. He must have a great teacher/mentor!
So, RMC is ready to start 2026 with new goals but the same mission: providing old-fashioned person-to-person service to educate and help our clients successfully navigate the home-buying process.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
